Matthijs was sleeping like in the attached picture the other day. Is he already stressed out by something?

Impossible I’d say, he’s got a great life so far, filled with drinking milk, getting sponge baths and being spoiled with attention the whole day.

It must have been his first hangover - too much milk…

Another weekend passed, and it surely went quick. Weekends just seem even shorter with a little guy around the house who soaks up all attention.

Matthijs is smiling now and then, but we’re still not fuly sure if he really smiles for a reason or if he is trying out his facial muscles. But the Disney animals over his changing table are a sure reason for some laughs every day.

Sunday he’s been a bit cranky - sleeping for a few minutes, and then complaining loudly again and asking for milk. So Nadine and I have been running around the house with bottles, nappies, towels, etc.

By the way - whoever thought of the expression “Sleep like a baby” must have not been a father or mother. There’s really no such thing at least at Matthijs’ stage of life… Even when he sleeps, he makes lots of little noises that are enough to keep mum and dad awake. Soon it will be time for Matthijs to sleep in his own room!

This is me and my cousin sitting in the cockpit of a KLM Boeing 747 in 1979.

Every boy I knew around this age wanted to be a pilot, and this experience of sitting in the cockpit of a KLM 747 must have been thrilling to both of us. I seem to look slightly proud in this picture, as if saying “he check me out, I’m captain Marc”. Too bad I sat in the co-pilot seat though…
My cousin - slightly younger - is visibly making aircraft noises and trying to drive the thing out onto the tarmac.

The weekend in Hong Kong has been super. Weather was great; it’s one of these beautiful Hong Kong October days: cracking clear skies, bright blue and very clear so you can see all the mountains clearly.

Saturday mum and dad took some time off in the morning to go the city. Especially mummy was happy to have a couple of hours alone with dad and away from Matthijs, and we had a great lunch at the new Isola restaurant in IFC Mall Central.
During this time, our helper Ella looked after Matthijs. At around 5pm we were back in Discovery Bay and we met Matthijs off the ferry as Ella brought him there.
We had some drinks with our friends in the plaza and called it a night at around 7pm.

Sunday we’ve had another great day, strolling around DB and having a leisurely lunch in the plaza.

In the afternoon we had a party in a friend’s garden as he celebrated his birthday. There were lots of kids around, but unfortunately Matthijs is a little too young to play around with them.

After the party it was already 7pm so the weekend was nearly over. We bought some take out food in Ebeneezers’ and then it was back to bed to rest for a busy week ahead indeed.
