Matthijs and I went up for a hike to the lookout point behind our house.
He’s doing very well walking up now - a good 300 mtr hill with lots of steps. If the weather stays nice we’ll do some more hikes during the christmas break.
Nadine is in Cebu - so Matt and I had a nice ‘men only’ weekend in DB.

It was beatiful weather on Saturday and so we took a trip to Pui Oh beach, on Lantau Island.
It’s only a good couple of hours hiking from Discovery Bay and really the beach is one of the best in Hong Kong.
We spend the whole day sitting in “Ohlala restaurant” and the kids had fun playing in the beach and in the waves.
With this kind of a beach near by there’s no reason at all to travel to Thailand!

Today I decided to check how bad my stamina is with a hike up DB peak - one of the peaks closest to Discovery Bay, about 450 meters high.
Well, I made it in exactly one hour, and nearly died only three times on the way up… So depending on what shape you’re thinking of you could say i’m in good shape.
What I like about hiking up mountains is that you get this feeling a couple of times that “you’re never going to make it” while you’re gasping for air and your legs are about to give up. But every time it just takes like 10 minutes to get back your senses and your breath and continue.

It’s 34 celsius and we’re in Ooh La La beach club near Cheung Sha. We’re on our 4th bottle of rose together with a bunch of other people.
This is the life.
Matthijs has been having a great day especially playing with the muddy sand in the sea during low tide.

It’s a sweltering hot day - mercury reaching 35 celsius…
We were all ready for a hike through the hills this morning, but after the short walk from home to the plaza with Matthijs on my back, we decided to call it quits as it’s just too hot to walk!
Instead we’re off to the pool this afternoon. Swimming and doing as little as possible.
Here the view over the city at noon.

Nearly died while hiking from DB to Mui Wo. I guess we picked the wrong day; 34 degrees, left at the hottest of the day, and decided to carry my boy with me - adding another 15kg to the load…
But still, it was a nice hike - matthijs enjoyed it too.

I got up early this Sunday and met up with my friend to do some serious hiking. Although we had the best intentions for a sturdy walk up Sunset peak, the weather gods did not approve of our plans and it quickly started pouring down with rain when we arrived in Mui Wo…

So back to DB and back in the house 2 hrs after waking up that early.
This will give me some time to review the contractors’ quotations we received for Seabird Lane house (all seven of them) and decide on next steps.
Later,
Marc

Today I woke up extremely early and decided to walk up the mountain behind our house.
How nice to walk up the track when there are still no other hikers about - and most of the town still pretty much sleeping.
Since it was misty and still so quiet I could hear the sounds of the fog horns from the ships in the harbour as I moved up.
A nice and extremely tiring walk up the hill - 550 mtr in 1 hour.
On top it was still dusky and misty - see pic.
