Had a good day of meetings and presentations in Singapore yesterday. The end result of our hard work for the past 6 months.
Singapore and Hong Kong are similar in many ways. But I think people in general in Singapore are more relaxed and less stressed than in Hong Kong. That’s probably culturally driven and not due to the economic reasons. Both cities are prosperous and both have the same need to re-invent itself when reliance on ports, trade and logistics reduces and economies become more service and knowledge work oriented.
Singapore just has this nice Southeast Asian culture and mentality which makes people seem more friendly than in North Asian countries (at least to me).
Having said that; I’m happy to go back to Hong Kong today.

I’ll be in Singapore for next two days - having a couple of business meetings.
This picture taken from the Cathay Lounge in Chek Lap Kok Airport. It’s a beatiful day, wish I’d be hiking that hill in the background instead.

I was on a trip in Singapore last week and shot a couple more test pictures with the D70. In the mean time I’ve finally managed to find an 18-70DX lens for the camera - thanks to a reader of dpreview
So the pictures in this post are all made with the D70 + new 18-70DX lens.

I particularly like the close-ups of my Thai diner (spring rolls and Singha beer…I admit the diner could have been better) and the night exposure shots taken over Suntec City area. The resolution of this camera is so good that you can almost see the people inside their rooms in the Conrad hotel across from me…
Another one that came out well are the aussie clowns performing in the City Link mall (you’ll recognize ‘em when you see ‘em). I’m quite happy with how sharp the camera still is in indoor situations and higher ISO settings.
Please take a look at the pictures under the link. I mentioned the ISO setting in the file name of each image. If ISO setting is not mentioned it’s iso200.
I look forward to taking more pictures with it, a very nice opportunity arises in our upcoming trip to Kathmandu in April.
Bye,
Marc
