Last Sunday Matthijs turned two years. Time flies and it’s hard to believe that the tiny baby we brough back home two years ago is now running around and getting more and more chatty.
We had an early start on Sunday as Matthijs woke up around 6am!!! So we spend the morning opening all his presents and eating his birthday cake.
Matthijs had a great day and is very happy with all his presents - especially the building set from opa and oma, and the toaster from Yanieke/Robbin. The Lego fire truck so far is his favorite (except he already managed to throw the sirene from the window into the neighbour’s balcony…).
Ours started with a beautiful day - clear blue skies and a pleasant 25 degrees. We’ve spent it lazing around in Discovery Bay while getting over the mild hangover of the eve night’s champagne.
Matthijs was feeling ill but in the video you can see he’s happy to be outside the house for a while and enjoy the sun.
He’s now starting to say more and more words, and for instance every time he sees an airplane, he’ll point at it and yell “a ba”. Which indeed is the right baby language word for airplane I believe.
The playroom in the resident’s club is one of Matthijs fav hangouts. There are always lots of other kids to play with and there is a “ballenbak” (no idea what that’s called in English?) filled with loads of balls to play around in.
Floors are well padded and as you see in the video - when Matthijs drops at one point, he just gets up and continues walking - without a shout, cry or tears. That wouldn’t be the case back home on our hard wooden floor…
I was at the club house y’day for lunch. I decided to check the view of the club pool from the terrace. And gee, i thinks it’s really great! And hey! There’s this man in an orange shirt who keeps following my every movement! He’s getting on my nerves! Don’t you have anything better to do than to stalk me? Like, talk to mom? Where is she by the way?
Well, since today the little King is really walking by himself!
Two weeks ago he started to realize that he could stand up by himself, without holding anything. Since then he’s tried to make one step, two steps, three steps, but always quickly fell down to hands and knees.
Today he suddenly realized he can actually walk if he wants to, so he’s been taking some strolls around the plaza.
Mum Nadine was delighted it happened while she was here and not on a flight somewhere else! As for dad - I had to do with the video of the whole thing upon coming home today.
Here’s the video - by chance I have just found out how to get video on my site using Youtube.com. A great opportunity to share with you Matthijs first steps!
